1. The two picture both show some sort of movement.
2. The first picture is frozen, but you can see how the horseman and his horse are moving. Each little picture is a different movement of the horse.
The second picture is blurred as the man goes down the stairs.
3. Muybridge's photo breaks down the movement so the eye can see it.
Marcel Duchamp is just showing him how he goes down the stairs. :)
